Statement from the AAPI Equity Budget Coalition on Governor’s Kathy Hochul’s Executive Budget
After months of tireless advocacy to secure funding for New York’s AAPI community in the Governor’s FY 25-26 budget, we are deeply disappointed that no dedicated funding has been earmarked for the AAPI Equity Budget Coalition for FY 25-26. This funding is vital to addressing the needs of New York’s 2.1 million AAPI residents, who continue to face systemic challenges in areas like poverty, education, safety, mental health, and social services.
As the co-leads of the AAPI Equity Budget Coalition, the Asian American Federation (AAF) and Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) remain steadfast in our commitment to securing the $54.35 million investment our community so urgently needs. We will continue advocating for its inclusion in the Senate One-House Budget and look forward to its recognition and support in the final New York State budget.
