Asian American Federation Executive Director Cao O to Step Down
New York, N.Y. Asian American Federation announced today that Executive Director Cao O will be stepping down on December 31, 2013.
Mr. O has served as the Federation’s first executive director since June 1990. “It has been a tremendous honor for me to have the opportunity to help found and to lead this great organization whose mission remains dear to my heart,” said O. “For over 23 years, I have worked with many dedicated individuals who have collectively made the Federation what it is today – a leading pan-Asian organization that is well recognized for what we are about and what we have accomplished for the community. While I continue to be motivated by the promises of the Federation, I recognize that it is important for the organization to have a healthy succession of leadership. The time is right for me to move on to pursue other interests.”
George H. Wang, Chair of the Federation’s Board of Directors, stated, “We thank Cao for his years of service and for his path-breaking leadership role to the Federation and to the larger Asian-American community. His dedication will be missed. My fellow board members and I wish him the very best in his new endeavors.”
“Over the next few months, the Federation will be recruiting for Cao’s replacement. We appreciate his commitment to working with the staff and Board to achieve a successful transition,” said Wang. “The Board has named Jo-Ann Yoo, currently Managing Director of Community Services, Interim Executive Director, effective January 1, 2014.”
